Q1 Cybersecurity Venture Funding Tumbles 58% from 2022  

Crunchbase research has found that venture capital funding to cybersecurity firms totaled nearly $2.7 billion in the first quarter of 2023, a precipitous 58% decline from the same period a year ago. So reports Cybersecurity Dive.

arrow down icon 157360 1280On a quarter-over-quarter basis, however, the flow of venture capital funding actually rose for the first time in a year, from $2.4 billion in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Although expenditures on cybersecurity have kept growing and outpace IT security spending in general, some industry observers have argued that there may currently be too many firms offering redundant solutions.
