Uber’s Ex-security Chief Goes to Trial in Watershed Breach Case

Uber’s former head of security, Joe Sullivan, headed to trial recently in what is thought to be the first data breach-related criminal case against an executive. So reports The Guardian.

UberA San Francisco federal court is due to review claims that Sullivan did not adequately disclose a 2016 data breach that hit 57 million Uber users worldwide.

With ransomware attacks on the rise, the trial could be a milestone as to how much responsibility U.S. security professionals have for how their companies address data breaches.
