Facebook Settles Lawsuit Over Cambridge Analytica Data Breach

Four years after news surfaced that Facebook had allowed Cambridge Analytica to access the private data of tens of millions of users, the social-media giant, now called Meta, has settled a lawsuit claiming it illegally shared information with the consulting firm. So reports The Guardian.

facebook 748885 640 smallThe settlement, disclosed in a court filing, comes shortly before Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and outgoing chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg were expected to be questioned by plaintiffs’ attorneys.

Revelation of the breach back in 2018 prompted Zuckerberg to testify before Congress, led to a multi-billion-pound fine against Meta and erased more than $100 billion in share value within days.
