VA Breach Also Affected 17,000 Care Providers: Senate Democrats

Some Senate Democrats have charged that the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs’ recent announcement of a data breach failed to disclose that the leak may also have compromised the details of 17,000 community care providers. So reports FedScoop.

cyber security 1805246 640smallIn a letter to VA leadership, Democrats on the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs said they had “serious concerns” about the agency’s data protection and transparency.

A VA spokesperson said, “17,000 community care providers used the application involved in the incident, but only 13 of those were impacted by the breach and just six had payments diverted.”
