Chicago Reaches $1.5M Settlement Over Equifax Breach

Equifax has agreed to pay $1.5 million to settle the city of Chicago’s lawsuit over a massive 2017 data breach. So reports Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.

money 3488345 640 small“This settlement represents a significant achievement by the law department, which worked hard on this matter to enforce city law protecting against unfair business practices,” Mark Flessner, city corporation counsel, said in a statement.

In previous breach-related settlements, Equifax agreed to pay about $650 million to the Federal Trade Commission and about $1.5 billion to plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit.
