Canada’s Desjardins Breach Hits Another 2 Million People

Desjardins, Canada's biggest federation of credit unions, revealed last month that a data breach, first disclosed in June, had affected about 4.2 million of its individual members. Now, the potential scope has widened considerably. So reports the Montreal Gazette.

Desjardins CEO Guy Cormier said that about 1.8 million credit card holders who are not Desjardins members may have had their personal details exposed. Cormier told reporters that the since-fired employee who leaked the data had access to banking details but said there was no sign of the information being shared with third parties.
