Eddie Bauer Settles Data Breach Class Action for $9.8M

Eddie Bauer has agreed to pay $9.8 million to settle a class-action lawsuit stemming from a 2016 data breach. So reports Security Boulevard.

The settlement, filed in a Washington federal court, ends two years of litigation between Eddie Bauer and Veridian Credit Union, which claimed the clothing retailer harmed its customers by failing to follow the proper procedures to protect their information from cyber threats. In the security incident, attackers relied on point-of-sale malware to expose credit card details at about 350 North American stores.
