Mar-A-Lago Breach Inquiry Raising Eyebrows Among Cybersecurity Pros

Cybersecurity specialists are puzzled over the Secret Service probe into the malware-containing thumb drive carried into President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort by a Chinese national. So reports The Washington Post.

Although a law enforcement source told the Post that the investigation was fully by the book, Secret Service agent Samuel Ivanovich said in court testimony that another agent “had to shut down his computer” to stop the malware. This has cybersecurity experts concerned.

The Secret Service, citing the ongoing investigation, declined to comment on the gap between the agents’ described behavior and what cybersecurity pros cited as the usual practices for malware investigations.
