IBM’s Weather Channel Sued by Los Angeles Over Data Use

The city of Los Angeles sued IBM’s Weather Channel unit for allegedly mining and selling the location data of Weather Channel app users to advertisers. So reports the Los Angeles Times.

The lawsuit in California state court claims these actions amounted to fraudulent and deceptive business practices. The L.A. city attorney’s office is seeking an injunction and potentially millions in civil penalties.
