Microsoft Confirms Security Flaw That Could Resemble WannaCry

Microsoft has acknowledged a new, unpatched security vulnerability, with potentially serious consequences for Windows users. So reports GeekWire.

microsoft 80658 640smallAlthough a security advisory from the tech giant didn’t specifically mention “CVE-2020-0796,” a security vulnerability whose existence accidentally leaked earlier the same day, researchers found a match between the two.

CVE-2020-0796, initially mentioned by mistake in lists of Microsoft’s latest security updates published by Cisco Talos and Fortinet, reportedly allows hackers access similar to the vulnerability that was exploited in 2017’s devastating WannaCry and NotPetya attacks.
