Ring Security Camera Users Report Intrusive Hacks

Owners of Amazon’s Ring home security cameras across four states have reported their systems being hacked in recent weeks. So reports The New York Times.

eye 2488227 1920In one incident, a man reportedly spoke through the camera into a family’s bedroom, called their 8-year-old daughter a racial slur and insisted he was Santa Claus as she screamed.

A Ring spokesperson told the Times in a statement that episodes had to with hackers gaining access to Ring users’ passwords “from a separate, external, non-Ring service.”
