Meta Fined $275M by European Regulator Over Breach  

The Irish Data Protection Commission has fined Meta €265 million ($275 million) after a breach that led to more than 530 million Facebook users’ email addresses, mobile phone numbers and other personal data surfacing online. So reports TechCrunch.

facebook 748885 640 smallIreland’s data watchdog, which is Meta’s lead regulator for the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation, said that the breach infringed the EU’s data protection law.

With the penalty, fines imposed on Meta by the DPC since late 2021 total almost €1 billion.
