CommonSpirit Unit St. Luke’s Health Suffers Data Reach of its Own  

Weeks after Chicago-based healthcare system CommonSpirit Health was hobbled by a ransomware attack, its subsidiary St. Luke’s Health has disclosed an unrelated data breach. So reports Healthcare IT News.

ransomware 2318381 640The Texas-based system of 16 hospitals has begun notifying 16,906 affected patients of the breach, which exposed personally identifiable information.

Hackers reportedly accessed email accounts for two employees of third-party consultant Adelanto Healthcare Ventures. An investigation determined that the accounts contained medical record numbers, treatment and diagnosis codes and other sensitive data.
