Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Gary Peters (D-Mich.) noted in a press release that the legislation includes $1 billion for cybersecurity upgrades at the state, local, tribal and territorial levels. The package also established a $100 million cyber response and recovery fund for private companies that own critical infrastructure. Another $21 million goes toward staffing the Office of the National Cyber Director.
A White House fact sheet reads, “The deal makes our communities safer and our infrastructure more resilient to the impacts of climate change and cyber-attacks.”
