Russians Breach Republican National Committee Contractor  

The Republican National Committee has acknowledged that hackers associated with the Russian government breached one of its contractors. However, the RNC maintains that no access was made to its data. So reports The Hill.

russia 1020934 640smallThe RNC confirmed in a statement that Synnex, a third-party technology provider, was breached, adding that the RNC “immediately” shut down access from Synnex accounts to its own cloud environment.

The breach, attributed to the group known as Cozy Bear, came around the same time as another Russian-speaking ransomware group, REvil, took credit for an attack on software vendor Kaseya that affected as many as 1,500 organizations in at least 17 countries.
