Ubiquiti Reportedly Covers Up Seriousness of Data Breach

Ubiquiti, a maker of networked devices, has been downplaying the gravity of a data breach that could allow hackers to log in to customers’ devices, a whistleblower has told cybersecurity blogger KrebsonSecurity. So reports Ars Technica.

ubiquitiUbiquiti revealed in January what it described as “unauthorized access to certain of our information technology systems hosted by a third-party cloud provider.”

Now, a Ubiquiti security pro who helped with the company’s breach response has reportedly said that much extensive and sensitive data was accessed and that executives were concealing the breach’s seriousness to prop up Ubiquiti shares. The company has issued a response that did not dispute many details of the allegations.
