Idaho Health System Hack Notifications Tell Patients They’re Dead

Some letters sent out by Boise, Idaho-based Saint Alphonsus Health System notifying patients of an email hack inadvertently notified people of their untimely demise. So reports the Idaho Statesman.

skull and crossbones 30325 640“Dear next of kin or personal representative of Lisa,” a letter to Idaho woman Lisa Mogabgab-Bennett starts. “You’re receiving this letter because you were listed as the next of kin or personal representative.”

A statement from Saint Alphonsus said that “a mail merge issue created an incorrect status for some patients, addressing them as deceased or a minor.”
