Marriott Hit with $23.8M Fine for 2018 Breach

Britain’s data-privacy watchdog has fined Marriott £14.4 million (about $23.8 million) for a data breach discovered in 2018. So reports TechCrunch.

money 3488345 640 smallThe UK Information Commissioner’s Office reduced the amount from the £99 million ($123 million) it had indicated last year it would impose.

A spokesperson for the hotel giant told TechCrunch that the ICO recognized “the steps taken by Marriott following discovery of the incident to promptly inform and protect the interests of its guests.”
