Capital One Fined $80M Fine Over 2019 Data Breach

Capital One owes an $80 million civil penalty one year after experiencing an enormous data breach. So reports Reuters.

capital oneThe fine by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency stems from a hack announced by the company in July 2019 in which personal information for more than 100 million people in the United States was stolen.

“In the year since the incident, we have invested significant additional resources into further strengthening our cyber defenses, and have made substantial progress in addressing the requirements of these orders,” a Capital One spokesperson said in a statement.
