DNA Testing Startup Veritas Reveals Data Breach

Veritas Genetics, a DNA testing firm, said that it has suffered a data breach exposing customer information. So reports Bloomberg.

The Danvers, Mass.-based startup said it discovered that an unauthorized party had “recently” accessed a customer-facing portal but that the portal did not contain genetic or health records.

“The security and privacy of customer information is a top priority, and we have security processes and procedures in place as part of this commitment, including segregating and securing genomic data on separate systems,” Veritas told Bloomberg in a written statement.
