Yahoo’s $85M Data Breach Settlement Fails in Court

A federal judge has rebuffed Yahoo’s proposed settlement in a class-action lawsuit stemming from three breaches between 2013 and 2016 involving an estimated 3 billion user accounts. So reports Digital News Daily.

The agreement would have set up a $50 million fund for about 200 million hacking victims, plus as much as $35 million for their legal fees. U.S. District Court Judge Lucy Koh faulted Yahoo in part for an ongoing “lack of transparency.”
