Average Data Breach Cost Holds Steady Near $4M: IBM

The average data breach cost $3.86 million, according to a new report by IBM. The report looked at data breaches among more than 500 companies worldwide.  

dollar 3706548 640 smallThis year's tally is roughly in line with the $3.92 million average cost that IBM found in last year’s report.

Healthcare had the highest costs of any industry, at $7.13 million, according to the latest report. Meanwhile, the United States was the country with the most expensive data breaches, at $8.64 million per breach.
