Employment and information law attorney Mark Thomas told the publication that an earlier appeals court decision had held Morrisons “liable for the actions of a rogue employee with a vendetta against the firm.” The Supreme Court’s reversal, Thomas said, has now “restored normality” to British law on what’s known as “vicarious liability.”
The employee, Andrew Skelton, was previously sentenced to eight years in prison in connection with the breach.
