Salesforce Breached California’s New Privacy Act: Lawsuit

One of the first federal lawsuits to claim violations of California’s sweeping new privacy law targets Salesforce.com and a children’s clothing retailer that used the company’s e-commerce company’s cloud services. So reports Bloomberg Law.

california 2798001 640 smallAccording to the complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Salesforce and Hanna Andersson violated the California Consumer Protection Act in connection with a data breach announced January 15.

In addition to running afoul of the CCPA, which went in force this year, plaintiff Bernard Barnes also alleges that the two companies violated California’s Unfair Competition Law and were negligent.
