Business Scurry to Meet California Consumer Privacy Act

About 500,000 U.S. businesses across all industries will be subject to California’s new data privacy law when it goes into effect on January 1, and many are rushing awkwardly to comply. So reports Dow Jones Newswires.

Hundreds of thousands of small and mid-size enterprises meet the criteria for the California Consumer Privacy Act, along with a vast range of companies including Starbucks, Gap, Aetna, Wells Fargo, American Airlines and Mattel. The law gives California residents the right to ask them to provide and, upon request, delete any personal information they might have, or designate that the data not be sold.
