White House Touts Cyber Component of Infrastructure Bill  

President Joe Biden has talked up the cybersecurity investment in the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill recently passed by the House of Representatives. So reports Nextgov.

Biden smile 5621670 640Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Gary Peters (D-Mich.) noted in a press release that the legislation includes $1 billion for cybersecurity upgrades at the state, local, tribal and territorial levels. The package also established a $100 million cyber response and recovery fund for private companies that own critical infrastructure. Another $21 million goes toward staffing the Office of the National Cyber Director.

A White House fact sheet reads, “The deal makes our communities safer and our infrastructure more resilient to the impacts of climate change and cyber-attacks.”
