Homeland Security Warns of Lethal Threat from 'Killware'  

Move over, ransomware, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has said that the next major cybersecurity threat is “killware.” So reports CPO Magazine, citing a subscriber-only USA Today interview.

bones gc66be56fb 640Such malware is made to intentionally cause death, and Mayorkas cited recent cyberattacks involving health systems and water utilities.

Mayorkas warned that cyber attackers continue to cross “red lines,” moving into ransomware, doxxing, and then attacks on critical infrastructure, and he sees a willingness to kill as the next likely step.
