Cloudflare calls for end to CAPTCHA 'Madness'

Web infrastructure company Cloudflare has urged doing away with the CAPTCHA tests that enable websites to determine if users are human, calling the proliferation of CAPTCHAs “madness.” So reports The Verge.

cloudflare“Humanity wastes about 500 years per day on CAPTCHAs,” the headline on a Cloudflare blog post reads, referring to the tests that ask users to click on images of objects such as bicycles or vehicles. “It’s time to end this madness.”

Cloudflare proposes replacing the tests, which can be frustrating and time-consuming, with what it calls “Cryptographic Attestation of Personhood,” a new system for demonstrating that a user is human by touching or looking at a device.
