Cybersecurity experts said that Egor Igorevich Kriuchkov, who entered the plea in federal court in Reno, took extraordinary risks in the case. He planned to steal Tesla secrets and threaten to release them unless Tesla paid a ransom.
Kriuchkov’s public defender declined to comment.
