Domain Names Could Fuel COVID-19 Scams: Researchers

Researchers are sounding the alarm that fraudsters could easily use coronavirus-related Internet domain names to help them steal personal information or distribute phony medicines. So reports The Washington Post.

covid 19 4922384 640smallStaffers at online-safety nonprofit Digital Citizens Alliance said that from May to July, they had no trouble purchasing misleading domain names like Getcoronavirusvaccines.com, freecoronavaccine.net and Bleachcoronaviruscure.com from GoDaddy, Google Domains and other registrars.

GoDaddy directed The Washington Post to a blog post from March, while a Google spokesperson said the company bans using its domain names for illegal ends.
