Scammers Spread Malware with Fake Data Breach Sites

Fraudsters have created fake pages that combine the phrase “data breach” with major brands, leading to false alarms that can disseminate malware. So reports Bleeping Computer.

warning 2168379 640Google Alerts picks up these websites and sends the links to users in email notifications, but the links go to pages with malware.

Companies subject to fake notifications include Chegg, Dropbox, Hulu, PayPal, Target and others that have previously suffered actual data breaches.
