U.S. Has 'Stepped Up' Coronavirus Research Security, Official Says

Amid foreign actors’ attempts to steal coronavirus-related research, the Department of Homeland Security’s cybersecurity arm has bolstered its defenses for healthcare and medical research organizations, according to an official. So reports Cyberscoop.

covid 19 4908690 640smallBryan Ware, assistant director of DHS’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, told industry executives that CISA has “stepped up” its protections of the Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Speaking during a webinar about CISA contracting possibilities, Ware said the agency was monitoring the networks of drugmakers and research facilities for security flaws and working to resolve them “because we are seeing adversaries that are targeting them right now.”
