The FBI is looking into “the targeting and compromise of U.S. organizations conducting COVID-19-related research by [People’s Republic of China]-affiliated cyber actors and non-traditional collectors,” the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), a division of the Department of Homeland Security, and the FBI said in a joint statement.
The FBI and CISA added that the hackers were trying to “identify and illicitly obtain valuable intellectual property.”
