More Than 800 Political Cyber Attacks Took Place in the Past Year

New research by Microsoft shows that there have been 800-plus cyber attacks in the past year alone against “political campaigns, parties, and pro-democracy groups” around the world. So reports Rolling Stone.

Tom Burt, a vice president of customer security and trust at Microsoft, told the magazine, “Anyone involved in the democratic process needs to know that it’s likely not a question of if they’ll be targeted, but whether they will be breached.” Microsoft’s numbers suggest that the 2020 election could be at least as bad when it comes to cyber threats as the 2016 campaign.
