U.S. Cyber Strike Disrupted Iran’s Attack Ability: Officials

A U.S. cyberattack in late June on an Iranian intelligence group thought to have helped plan recent attacks on oil tankers has had an impact, according to senior U.S. officials. So reports The New York Times.

The U.S. strike at least temporarily interrupted Iran’s ability to target Persian Gulf shipping traffic, destroying information and taking down military communication networks, the officials said. The officials reportedly went public in part to allay concerns within the Trump administration over whether the attack was worth what U.S. forces gave up in intelligence and access to a key Iranian network.
