FDA Warns Insulin Pump Users of Cyber Risks Amid Recall

The Food and Drug Administration has warned insulin pump users and healthcare providers that certain devices could be vulnerable to hackers. So reports The Washington Post.

According to the FDA’s announcement late last month, Medtronic was recalling its MiniMed 508 and the MiniMed Paradigm insulin pumps due to risks that an unauthorized person “could potentially connect wirelessly to a nearby MiniMed insulin pump and change the pump’s settings.” An official said the FDA was not aware of any patients having been harmed by the potential cybersecurity risk.
