Manchester United Cyberattack Illuminates Risk for Sports

The recent disclosure by soccer club Manchester United that it experienced a debilitating cyberattack has shed light on the overlooked threats facing the sports industry. So reports Cyberscoop.

manchesterWhile Manchester United issued a statement blaming “organized criminals” for the disruption to its computer systems, the club has so far declined to comment further.

Experts such as Ciaran Martin, former head of the UK national Cyber Security Centre, and Merritt Maxim, a vice president at Forrester, pointed out to Cyberscoop that sports organizations and their fans are increasingly prime targets for hackers.
